# Protocol Governance

Anyone holding veDFX can participate in DFX governance by voting on proposals and directing emissions to preferred liquidity pools. Governance determines new features and the direction of the DFX Protocol, making it the driving force behind its operations.

DFX Governance follows a straightforward path: discussion, proposal, voting, and implementation. It's designed to be user-friendly, secure, transparent, and to drive ongoing progress for the DFX Protocol.

Voting power is tied to holding [veDFX](https://ethplorer.io/address/0x3ac91a7a2d30fa25ada4616d337a28ea988988be#pageTab=holders\&tab=tab-holders\&pageSize=100) tokens, obtained by locking DFX tokens. [veDFX](https://ethplorer.io/address/0x3ac91a7a2d30fa25ada4616d337a28ea988988be#pageTab=holders\&tab=tab-holders\&pageSize=100) holders can vote on proposals that align with the protocol's vision and goals.
